The problem
Indoor levels of volatile organic compounds run consistently higher than outdoors — by as much as ten times.

Candles. Cleaning sprays. Fresh paint. New carpet and furniture. Cooking. Every one of them releases compounds into the air, and in a well-sealed house those compounds do not simply leave — they accumulate. Add the ordinary traffic of a family home, dust and pollen and pet dander tracked in from outside, and the air circulating through your furnace is carrying a great deal more than most people picture.

The filter
There are three different things floating through your ductwork, and they do not all behave the same way. Most filters are built for one of them.
Dry particulates
The visible household traffic — everything that gets tracked in, shed, or stirred up as you go about the day. A pleated MERV 8 media holds it.
Biologicals
The living things that would otherwise settle into a damp filter and stay there. Thyme Guard, a plant-derived thyme treatment, is applied on every visit.
Organic V.O.C.’s
The chemical vapors and odors that are not particles at all. Only real activated carbon collects these — this is the layer almost nobody includes.
A higher MERV number only ever buys you finer particle capture. Vapors are not particles; they pass straight through any filter that has no carbon in it. Carbon works by filling up — which is exactly why it has to be changed on a schedule. A carbon filter left in for a year is, for most of that year, an ordinary filter. Four visits is not a sales plan. It is the interval that keeps the carbon working.

Filter sizing is the one thing homeowners tell us they dread, and it is the whole reason the box in the garage is the wrong size. So we took it off your plate entirely.
Our technician measures your return on the first visit and records it. Standard sizes are $69. Anything odd, oversized, or heavy-duty is measured, quoted, and agreed with you before we order a thing. And if a filter we bring does not fit, we make it right — that visit.

Larger homes sometimes need more than one filter; if that is you, we will tell you at the first visit and you can decide then.
No. Nothing is signed and nothing auto-renews. We call you when your season comes round, and if you would rather skip it or stop altogether, you say so and that is the end of it.

And it is replaced on schedule by someone else, which is the part that actually happens — most self-bought filters stay in far longer than they should.
A carbon filter is designed to sit behind a particulate layer of roughly MERV 8 — that is the recommended pairing, not a compromise. Pushing the particulate rating higher restricts airflow, which residential furnaces are not built for, and it does nothing at all about vapors. The carbon is what does the work a higher MERV number cannot.
A water-based treatment made from the oils of the herb thyme. Our technician applies it to the filter media as the new filter goes in, so the surface everything collects on starts clean.
Because of how carbon works. It collects vapors by filling up, and once it is full it stops collecting — so a carbon filter left in for a year spends most of that year working like an ordinary one. Four visits is the interval that keeps it doing the thing you are paying for.
